GOING
BEFORE THE PANEL
One
of the things which many probationers may dread is going
before the membership panel to obtain their full healer
credentials. This is really not as dreadful as it might
seem, so let’s try to throw a little more light
on the process.
PREPARATION
Make sure you are well prepared beforehand - this will
do wonders to your confidence! Make sure you know your
code of conduct well, really understanding what is behind
each of the points it makes, rather than trying to learn
it all parrot fashion. You will probably find ways of
helping yourself to learn it, perhaps with a friend,
and perhaps writing the main points out on flashcards
and testing yourself at odd moments. There are lots
of ideas - do talk to other healers who have already
gone through the process.
Make
sure you know how to do the Act of Healing the NFSH
way, and are well presented. On the day wear something
which makes you feel good and is smart as well as comfortable.
This might all seem very obvious, but little things
like this will all help to build your confidence. And
go to your panel appointment, radiating love and light,
enthusiasm, inner peace, all the positive qualities
which your Higher Self knows is within you. Just let
them out!
THE
PROCESS
I am now going to describe going before the Leeds Panel,
but panels in other areas will be very similar. Talk
to healers who have been through your particular local
panel if you’d like more details.
At
Leeds the Panel is held at Centenary House, where many
of the Leeds healing events are held, probably in room
24, which is a nice bright airy room, but if there is
a course running it may be in the room next door which
is very similar. On arrival you will find a notice asking
you to sit outside the room until you are called. This
is the time when you are likely to feel at your most
nervous. Don’t frantically try to recall the code
of conduct at this stage, but use the time to centre
yourself, slowing your breathing and imagining you are
breathing in peace and radiating love. You can use your
favourite visualisation here, using pink and blue light,
or whatever you know best calms you. Ask for your healing
angels or whatever higher assistance you feel comfortable
with, to be with you.
When
you are called in, radiate love and peace to all in
the room as you enter. They are all nice, kind caring
people, healers who have all gone through this same
process before you, so they do understand! You will
find three or at the most four people on the panel,
but the seating is arranged in a circle ...there is
no desk in between ... no “them and you”
... they are on your side believe it or not, and want
you to get through, because they believe you will be
a wonderful asset to the NFSH and to the healing movement,
even more so when you are a full healer than you already
were as a probationer.
First
of all there will be a general talk about how you got
into healing, that sort of thing, to help put you at
your ease and help the panel to get to know you a little
better. You don’t need to prepare any stock answers
for this - just be yourself and let you love for healing
and your natural compassion and enthusiasm give you
the right words. They will be right I promise!
Then
follows the questionnaire on the code of conduct. There
are quite a few questions, so don’t be put off
by this. They are all just common sense! They should
be answered like this, quite simply, in your own words,
from your own understanding. Don’t try to repeat
the book parrot fashion - the panel just want you to
show them that you know what you are talking about.
Believe me, they will bend over backwards to help you
if they feel that you do indeed know the answers but
just can’t seem to get the right words out. There
really is nothing to fear there. The whole thing is
very relaxed, so every encouragement to keep yourself
peaceful and even enjoy it!
One
panel member will usually read all the questions, but
if you are the only probationer going through that day
and there are several panel members, you may find the
chairman asks others to take over. This is simply for
their benefit, not to try and trip you up. The panel
are human too, and like to be involved, so its of benefit
if they can all be actively involved in helping you
to get through in some way.
Finally
you will be asked to do a demonstration of healing.
Now here is your chance to really shine. No longer is
there just a panel member before you, but a patient!
This person is now going to be positively helped by
your healing - they need your help in fact or they wouldn’t
have volunteered - healers have aches and pains too.
So let all your natural love and compassion flow as
you really get down to a loving act of healing, demonstrating
in your very best manner that you know how to give an
NFSH healing. You may be asked to shorten it a bit if
a lot of time has been spent on other things, but this
is something which you can easily take in your stride
and adapt to the circumstance.
After
the lovely healing you have just given, you will be
asked to wait outside a minute or two. This is just
a formality, and you will probably be glowing with a
sense of achievement, knowing that you have done your
best, and that it has all gone so well. You will then
be called back in and congratulated!
Before
you rush away to celebrate your new full healer status,
you will be asked what you feel you might be able to
do as a full healer to help the NFSH or the healing
movement in general. Again, this doesn’t require
any preparation and you may have to think about it or
it might already be bubbling up inside you. You see,
we in the NFSH never miss an opportunity to unearth
the wonderful talents we know are to be found in our
probationers and new healers. Can you blame us?
DOES
ANYBODY FAIL?
In practice - very few. Only those who really are in
the NFSH for the wrong reasons, and really are totally
unsuitable and in some strange way have managed to get
this far. Occasionally it might be for lack of preparation,
lack of understanding of the basic principles of healing.
The panel members are experienced in spotting both these
types of people, and will give every help and encouragement
to the latter to try again if they feel the person will
make a good healer when they’ve done some more
work. So the process is not a once in a lifetime chance
- it can always be undergone again at a later date.
Most
people find going through the panel is a very positive,
encouraging and helpful process, which gives them an
excellent ‘kick-start’ as a new healer.
Many have remarked on the kindness of the panel members
and the encouragement they have been given. May you
be one of them. I wish you every success as you continue
your healing journey.
